This is a beautiful voicing on the piano you can play for major chords. It's a major 13 and it has a very modern, open and sparse sound to it.
It's constructed using 5ths and there's a great little trick you can do to easily remember how to play the voicing (watch the video to find out!).
As always, practice taking it through all the keys and using it in the context of tunes.
Happy practicing!

Become a PianoPig member at bit.ly/PianoPigAcademy This is one of my favourite things to do whilst improvising, and it's very Glasper-esque indeed! It's a simple concept, but can take a long time to integrate into your playing. Spend lots of time with this idea writing lines and trying new ways to use the half-step shift idea. Become a PianoPig member at bit.ly/PianoPigAcademy Learn how to play this filthy dominant chord in under 2 minutes. It's easy to play, easy to remember and such a great voicing to have under your fingers. It's a 13#11 and it's constructed using an upper structure triad. We just play the 1-3-b7 in the left hand, along with a major triad built off the 2 in the right hand (which gives us 9-#11-13)...

It's a very simple tweak which completely transforms the sound. We use what is known as a tritone substitution to achieve this. short and very sucsessful teaching (AWESOME)
Im practicing using this video even though im not a pig.
That was super entertaining, 😂 Thanks for debunking this piano urban myth 👍🏽
This is great thank you.
RANDY JUDAH TORREZ 💙 <>> Confirming i have been learning properly but the explanation of this particular Tutorial is Right On Track like one of me favorite sONgs from the 80's from the Breakfast Club called Right On Track musically speaking fantastic! 🎹 👍
amazing stuff
Don't do what I've done. I used to practice 6 hours a day, every day. Classical piano the rachmaninov way. I'm having an operation on my left hand for trigger thumb next week.
What i don't get it is this You are saying C# , E, and A is just an A chord is not this a minor C# 2-3 as you were teaching in another lesson? or these are the same thing ? this is kind of confusing...
I knew manor and minor but had no idea about dominant one, thx it was informative
I know this is an older video, but I just wanted to thank you so much for quickly showing what to do if the reach is too much. I leave so many tutorials depressed, after realizing there's no way I could play them.... and they offer no advice as to which is the best sub. It probably seems obvious to some, but for others (myself included) it is just confusing and depressing. So, from someone who's dedicated a massive amount of time to piano, thank you from the bottom of my heart for including our limitations in your tutorials. It means a lot.
Very useful method guys!
Thank u:)
Came here because the new omnichord has a sus4 and add9 😭
Você ensina o pulo do gato sem enrolação.
Seus ensinamentos são bons demais. Estou aprendendo muito.
Why was there a pig
Love it
Do you have a On-line Piano Course for beginners. If so what is your price
man was doing a lil too much "licking" to get that pink eye. I see brother
good explanation
We need more of improvisation stuffs
If you do this how would u know the key/scale your in ?
who's still here in 2024
Thx - this is the coolest lick here!
thank you
Muito top a aula.
Great video! If I am playing just basic chords example G, EM, C, D without dominant 7 chords can this still apply? For instance if I am moving from G to an Em, would B be a passing chord? And if it is chromatic would my passing chord be F? Thank you I am a complete beginner.😊
plain and simple!
I have a keyboard. I wanted one for a while to to play stuff like this. I'm still rusty Because I used to take piano lessons. I guess you could say I was impatient when I took them. But now im I'm learning by watching vidoes on how to play these buetiful chords.
Thanks for this helpful video
At 5:02 is that actually a Dm7 though? Looks like an add2 ?
Am I stupid but how it E G Bb D = E7 ? Isn't that rather Edim7.
Thanks lessons
Bro thank you so much for making these. I am practicing guitar and yhis really helped me learn
The toy pig figurine from 1:48 really brings it together for me.
Thank you, free Amazing lesson like this, makes me think again why i need to pay for an offline piano teacher lol, she sucks at explaining.
This is the last video I'm watching on major and minor, after numerous others. Great job, the creator of this 👍
Can this neo chords used to any songs??
Terrific lesson. Perfectly lays it out is simple terms. So many guys get caught up in their own cleverness when making tutorials that they complicate the issue further. And they take 20 minutes to do it! I'd recommend this video to anyone who wanted to get an understanding of how to us ethe altered scale.
Amazing ! How can we transpose the first leak to its relative minor ? (From C major to A minor in this case)
Would have been good perhaps to have explained that you're using extensions 9 and 13 - though maybe that would complicate at this stage. Maybe do a second linked one then that does explain the basic theory behind what you're doing. Just a thought to enhance this excellent video which has given me loads of thoughts of how to advance my playing on chord progressions
I mastered the chromatic playing. Now it’s on to the up,up,down part. It gets easier with repetitive playing. This tutorial helped me play much more confidently with voicing’s.
you are talking ridiculously slow i get people need to learn but DAMN
I really love the way you explain, very simple and clear to understand
😢

I actually understood this.
This is it. You can remember?
